Laguna Niguel (July 9,2019) James Daniel Forsyth, 54, has been charged with driving under the influence after leaving a pedestrian comatose or paralyzed at Alicia Parkway and Niguel Road in Laguna Niguel. Police claim Forsyth’s blood-alcohol level was .10, well above the legal maximum of .08. Forsyth pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor charge and 3 felony charges.
Police also claim Forsyth had oxycodone and alprazolam on him during the arrest. The victim remains in critical condition at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. Forsyth is being held on $1 million dollar bail. There is a pretrial hearing set for Forsyth on July 30th in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
